Get Ready Quick – Last Minute Showing Tips

It is time to get ready for showings with the spring market fast approaching.  You will be ready with these easy tips.  Wait, what?  You have a surprise house showing in an hour (!), and the house—frankly, it could use work. You are limited on time, don’t stress, take action:

  • Pick up. A key element of staging your house is creating order. Make your house look neat, and people will intrinsically remember it more fondly (their house is probably messy). Grab a basket and pick up any loose, out of place items.  You can easily gather them and deliver them to their keeping place quickly in one quick move.
  • Turn on lights. Let there be LIGHT! Quick and easy—turn on all the lights in every room where people are likely to walk (almost all of them). That makes every room seem more inviting and gives your place a livelier feel.
  • Dust. Go over the tabletops, chairs, counters, cabinets and (if you can) the blinds with a feather duster or quick clean tool. Dust has a way of making things seem less impressive than they are, so don’t let it.
  • Display flowers. Time for a little pop of color, freshness, and life.  Fresh flowers always make you feel special.  Your home is no different! Before your visitors arrive, quick: Run to the store, buy a big bouquet of flowers and split it—one vase for the living room and the other for the kitchen. Flowers always, always brighten up a room, and they lend an air of thoughtfulness—sophistication, even—to your home.

We get it, last-minute showings are stressful, but a few simple things can add a lot to your visitors’ experience, and maybe your home-selling experience, too!  Sometimes you just can’t avoid a last minute showing, but you never know, it could be the one who makes a great offer!
